How this site is built, and what we know is imperfect
The target is WCAG 2.2 AA. This page says what that means here, and lists the limitations we are aware of rather than waiting to be told.
What we do
- Every public page is delivered as complete HTML from the server. With JavaScript disabled or blocked, all content, all links and all explanation are present.
- Motion is off unless both your operating system allows it and the in-page control is on. That control exists because many public and government terminals do not let a person change an OS setting.
- Video carries a visible pause control and never plays under reduced motion.
- The diagram explaining the system is inline SVG with a text equivalent in the page, not an image. Nothing is available only as a picture.
- Text over photographs sits on measured scrims that hold at least a 4.5:1 contrast ratio against the underlying image.
- Every page is navigable by heading and by keyboard, with a visible focus indicator and a skip link.
Known limitations
- Image descriptions on this site are authored but have not yet completed independent human review. They describe what is visible; they have not been checked by someone other than their author.
- The operator console behind sign-in has not been through the same accessibility pass as these public pages.
- This site is English only. The wider programme commits to an English/French baseline and this surface has not reached it.
